$LAND is a love letter to Nick Land. To the Warwick lectures, to Meltdown, to the CCRU, to a body of writing that saw the machine coming decades before the timeline gave it a hashtag. Not a claim on his name, and not his project: a thank-you, written in the only language the market speaks.

The lineage // who came first

1. 1990s · WARWICKNick Land, lecturing in philosophy at the University of Warwick, writes the texts later collected as Fanged Noumena — among them Meltdown (1994) — and is at the centre of the Cybernetic Culture Research Unit. Capital as a runaway, self-amplifying process; the future arriving faster than the humans inside it.
2. 2010 · THE WORDBenjamin Noys names the current “accelerationism” in The Persistence of the Negative, as a critique. The name arrives fifteen years after the thing.
3. 2011 · THE BOOKFanged Noumena: Collected Writings 1987–2007 is published, and the Warwick texts reach the people who will argue about them for the next decade.
4. 2013 · THE LEFTAlex Williams and Nick Srnicek publish the #Accelerate manifesto — a left accelerationism, defined in large part against Land.
5. 2022 · E/ACC“Effective accelerationism” appears on X under the pseudonym Beff Jezos, as a techno-optimist reply to effective altruism. Late 2023, the account is publicly identified as Guillaume Verdon.
